In my undergraduate studies, I focused on painting and printmaking and still enjoy working with traditional materials to create abstractions of nature and landscapes. Growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and living part of the time on Smith Mountain Lake, nature and landscape were ever-present and appreciated in the mind. It is that kind of beauty that I enjoy referencing through abstraction, like calling upon a memory or an elusive idea of what nature is in the mind.
