This 3D model with animation was created as practice for using motion capture data, rigging models, and creating low poly scenes. The owls were assets from Sketch fab and were rigged by me. The motion capture data came from Mixamo and was cleaned and edited to fit the owl’s rig. There were multiple motion captures stitched together and variation was introduced to create multiple owl characters. In order to handle the rendering for all the motion capture data, Alembic caches in Maya were utilized. The song was borrowed from Andrew WK for a fun and energetic beat to place the motion capture to. The background was low poly modeled from scratch to set the scene for the owls. I used a simple lighting system and Arnold rendering. The camera keystoning is quite quick to match the energy of the song.
