Practice rigging with Maya Blendshapes

This animation was created for practice using Maya Blendshapes to create a lip sync animation. The character model was borrowed from Mixamo however the mouth was created from scratch including modeling the teeth and tongue, UV mapping the mouth, and adding the texture map to the Mixamo texture map of the body. The background scene was modeled from scratch. The character’s face was then modeled using a number of Blendshapes that corresponded to phonetic sounds created by speech. The map of the sounds can be seen below with stills of mouth shapes. The character’s body was given some idle motion using motion capture data from Mixamo. The speech was borrowed from Futurama and spliced together using Leela’s talking points.
